BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
designs, optimizes and develops
novel small-molecule drugs that
treat cancer, cardiovascular and
autoimmune diseases and viral
infections.
The stock had a nice run last month
along with other avian-flu stocks
and had a decent correction since.
Peramivir, the company's antiviral
drug could well compete with other
anti-flu drugs as it has several
advantages, including lower cost
per dose and Biocryst's ability to
ramp up production.
BioCryst has more room to climb,
partly because the current market
cap doesn't fully reflect its other
products.
The latest collaboration between
Roche and BioCryst, which enables
Roche to develop and commercialize
BioCryst's phase I compound, BCX-
4208, for the prevention of acute
rejection in transplantation and
for the treatment of autoimmune
diseases may attract more
investors.
